The Catcher in the Rye Playlist
Last night I was walking around the Marcian parking lot with Ian, a good friend of mine, and I said, “I feel like everyone’s growing up too fast.” And he looked at me very seriously (a look which is usually followed by a laughtrip) and he said, “The only thing permanent in this world is change.”
Smartass.
At any rate, I guess that’s true. My life right now is a coming-of-age novel. And speaking of which, I will probably be reading and rereading some J.D. Salinger this summer. And because people are growing up too fast, I pulled together a playlist for the best coming-of-age novel in all history: The Catcher in the Rye.
- Who Wrote Holden Caulfield - Green Day
- Welcome to My Life - Simple Plan
- Heaven Knows I’m Miserable Now - The Smiths
- America’s Next Freak - FM Static
- Kick-Ass (We Are Young) - Mika
- Holiday - Boys Like Girls
- Empire State of Mind - Jay-Z
- We Are Young - FUN
- Basket Case - Green Day
- October - FM Static
- Summertime - My Chemical Romance
- The Reason Why - The Click Five
- Everybody’s Changing - Lily Allen
- Don’t You Know Who I Think I Am - Fall Out Boy
Yeah, everyone’s a phony.
